Boheh Stone Walking Festival

Set on the west coast of Ireland - the Boheh Stone Walking Festival is part of the Heritage week on the weekend of the 24th & 25th of August. We have chosen Westport to stay in as it has great bars and music nearly every night - so if you are going to the festival you have plenty of evening entertainment to choose from.

The accommodation we have chose is the Broadlands Bed and Breakfast situated in Westport and within 10km of Croagh Patrick.

The itinerary:-

Saturday 24th August
Check in to the Broadlands Bed and Breakfast.
On the Saturday evening hear about the unique Rock of Boheh and experience the rolling sun phenomenon where the sun appears to roll down the side of Croagh Patrick.
This is a moderate walk of 2 kilometres and is open to everyone, meeting and registration at Brackloon Community Centre at 7.00pm situated four miles out the Westport/Leenane road.

Evening in Westport

Sunday 25th August
On Sunday come and enjoy the rich Mayo landscape with a 19 kilometre walk from Aughagower to Murrisk, this is a challenging walk, walking gear essential and bring a packed lunch.

Evening in Westport

Monday 26th August
Checkout of the Broadlands

How Much?

For 2 people-
2 nights bed and breakfast = 220 Euro
Walks = 5 Euro

Conclusion
Having walked in this part of Ireland before I can safely say you won't be disappointed with landscape and to walk guided in the beautiful part of Ireland for 5 euros is amazing.
Also having Westport and all its music and bars on an evening after a long days walk it is almost unmissable.

Next Walking Festival in our How Much? blog is the Tomintoul And Glenlivet Walking Festival in Cairngorm National Park on the 29th August.

Excellent. When you are getting close to autumn would you also consider the Torridon walking festival? http://www.thetorridon.com/activities/walking-festival/
Many thank Neil
