How Much To Enjoy A Long Weekend At The Valleys Walking Festival, Wales

We are now going to the Valleys Walking Festival in Wales. starting on the 07/09 to the 22/09 this is a large walking festival with lots to offer. It covers a large area of South Wales.
There are 28 walks to choose from.

The itinerary will be starting on the 12/09 the Friday in the middle of the festival to the Monday the 16/09. Booking in to the Herons Brook Bed and Breakfast on the Thursday night.


Thursday 12/09

Check in to the Herons Brook bed and breakfast in Bridgend - a good central location.

Friday 13/09

Distance: 7 miles / 11 km
Description: This circular walkwill explore the landscape above Abertillery and Cwmtillery. – the haunt of the old Hag of the mountains. We will climb up through thethe striking landscape of Cwmtillery looking at the industrial archaeology oand deserted medieval settlements. we will then ascend to Mynydd James before returning to Cwmtillery whilst taking in outstanding views across the valley.

Description: Landscape walk and talk meeting at Keepers pond with a moderate walk taking in the Cairn on the Blorenge summit. The walk will be led by a member of the Forgotten Landscapes Partnership team and local beekeeper Calwyn Glastonbury. The walk will focus on wildlife particularly bees and their importance, heather moorland, land management and the history of the area.

Conclusion:-

This is a walking festival that covers a large area so you must be prepared to drive upto 40mins to the start of walks but to see a new area and walk guided for as little as £25 a day with bed and breakfast a small price to pay..literally!!

The next walking festival will be in Northern Ireland and the Wee Binnian Walking Festival in Newry.
