Deal Walking Festival - How Much?

The Deal Walking Festival is a 6 day walking event, starting on the Thursday the 22/08 to the Wednesday the 28/06. Deal is on the South coast not far from Dover. It has 22 walks for all abilities and with the festival not far away, how much does it cost to attend this fabulous event?

We have made an itinerary for 3 nights and 3 days of guided walking , starting on the Friday night and finishing on the Monday. Creating a long weekend of walking the white cliffs.


The accommodation we have chosen is in Deal and its the The Kings Head and Channel View guest house. 

The Itinerary:-

Friday 23/08

Check into to the Kings Head in the morning and then -

Sandwich to Deal - A Linear Walk 7 miles

Meet bus shelter, South Street, Deal, catch 10.02hrs (no.13) bus to Sandwich. The walk will start at 10.30h from Sandwich Guildhall and follow a route along the Stour river and across the sand dunes to Sandwich Bay. We will then follow the Saxon Shore Way to Deal. Bring a snack with you and we will arrive at Deal Pier cafe for a late lunch/early afternoon tea.

Three Pits Walk - A Circular Walk 18 miles

Meet at Northbourne Village hall. An industrial heritage walk visiting the sites of the former Kent mines at Betteshanger, Tilmanstone and Snowdown. Pub stop en route

Two walks today!!

History & Wildlife of St Margaret's Bay 5 miles

Meet 2pm in the car park opposite the White Cliffs Hotel, High Street, St Margaret's at Cliffe (TR358 447). Led by the White Cliffs Countryside Project – this gentle stroll will walk around the Front Line British Trail to hear about the history and the wildlife of the South Foreland valley (Donation of £2 per person appreciated)

Sunset Photography 2 miles

Meet at 18.30 entrance to Deal Pier. With beautiful sunsets (subject to weather conditions of course!) explore central Deal, Deal Pier, the fishing boats on Deal and Walmer beaches, capturing that special light and special pictures.

An easy walk starting from Kingsdown Road Car Park, Walmer (near Granville Road turn). Duration 1 to 1.5 hours

How Much? 

For 2 people:-

Accommodation 3 nights bed and breakfast for 2 people = £180 

Walks = £4

Total = £184

For 1 Person:-

Accommodation 2 nights bed and breakfast for 1 person = £120

Walks =£2

Total = £122

Conclusion:-

A great way to walk to walk the White cliffs. There are 5 walks with a very interesting day on Sunday, a good long walk on the Saturday and two short walks either end of the weekend.

If the weather stays like it is - where else would you want to be than at the coast walking with friends.
